Our Monday book serialization is George Ade's 1903 collection, 'In Babel -- Stories of Chicago.' The stories in this book range from the hysterically funny to the pathetically sad. Altogether, they paint a fascinating portrait of turn-of-the-last-century Chicago.

Today's tale deals with a couple of guys who are way down on their luck, grousing at the way their former friends ignore them in 'The Judge's Son.'
