Mister Ron's Basement #1334
Last week we ran pieces from a 'scissors and paste' book from 1881 -- this week we have dug out a similar project from waaay back in 1830. The book is called 'The Gleaner, or Selections in Prose and Poetry from the Periodical Press.'
Some of the stories are quite funny, but the language is highly formal and stilted. Nevertheless, we have dug out some gems. Today, a card sharp attempts to play a trick on a New England skipper in a tale called 'Diamond Cut Diamond.'
Time: approx four minutes
