Mister Ron’s Basement # 1872
One of our favorite authors, H. C. Bunner, completed a truly unique project back in 1893. He published a book called ‘Made in France,’ which featured his English-language versions of stories by the noted French author Guy De Maupassant.
These stories were not direct translations by any means. He simply took the themes, or ‘ethical situations’ of each story, and rewrote them completely, and Americanized them.
Today’s tale is about a lazy pharmacist, an attempted murder, and a promise to keep silent. It is called ‘Dennis.’
Time: approx twenty-five and a half minutes
